An established leader in advanced Orthopedic Care and specializing in Sports Medicine, Dr. Scott Welsh has been a member of the greater Austin, Texas community since 2007.  Having grown up in the Illinois area, he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois.   Graduating with the distinctions of Phi Beta Kappa and Cum Laude.  Dr. Welsh earned his Medical Degree from Loyola University Chicago where he graduated in the top 5% of his class and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.  Upon completing his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Michigan State University.  Dr. Welsh then continued his fellowship training in sports medicine at the world renowned Florida Orthopedic Institute in Tampa, Florida.  Dr. Welsh is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Welsh has served as a Team Physician for the University of South Florida, University of Tampa, Saint Leo University, Western Michigan University, and multiple high schools in the Tampa region.  He has conducted research projects on ACL injuries and shoulder dislocations and has lectured at national sports medicine conferences.

Dr. Welsh has extensive experience in using Hyaluronic Acid (Gel) injections and other innovative therapy techniques to treat arthritic conditions, tendon injuries, and cartilage loss or damage.  He believes in treating the whole person and likes to think outside the box when developing treatment plans by working closely with physical therapists, coaches, personal trainers, team physicians, chiropractors, primary care providers and other alternative therapy specialists in order to achieve the best outcome for each individual patient.

Dr. Welsh is committed to the overall wellbeing of each of his patients and understands the importance of returning to an active lifestyle.   Therefore, he emphasizes transparency and education about all available options, allowing patients to make an informed decision about their treatment plan.

When not serving his patients, you can find Dr. Welsh enjoying golf, running, cycling, snow skiing, water skiing, weightlifting, traveling, listening to live music, and spending time with his golden retriever, Molly.
