For more than 20 years Dr. Scott Welsh has performed orthopedic surgery with a focus on the treatment of knee and shoulder injuries. Dr. Scott Welsh has been in the Austin, Texas community since 2007 and treats individuals of all ages and activity levels from the elite athlete to the weekend warrior. Dr. Welsh has a reputation for providing that personal touch that so often is lost in medicine today, for educating patients about all options, and for the expertise to get his patients back to peak performance. He is also well known for being a very conservative surgeon and in most cases will try to avoid surgery when possible.
Dr. Welsh utilizes the latest innovative techniques and technology in both non-surgical and surgical options to speed up your recovery. His goal as a physician is to help improve his patients’ quality of life and function by providing the most effective and least invasive orthopedic care possible.

Furthermore, he specializes in the treatment of shoulder problems such as rotator cuff tears, biceps tendon injuries, SLAP tears, labral tears, impingement syndrome, AC joint separations, and distal clavicle osteolysis. While specializing in arthroscopic surgery, Dr. Welsh also performs fracture repair of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and ankle. He routinely evaluates and treats patients with other injuries such as ankle sprains, elbow injuries, and wrist injuries to determine options for their best course of care. Dr. Welsh uses innovative therapy and techniques to help treat meniscus tears, rotator cuff tears, tendon degeneration (tendinosis), tendon tears, tennis and golfer’s elbow, ligament tears and articular cartilage injuries.

Dr. Welsh has extensive experience in using Hyaluronic Acid (Gel) injections and other innovative techniques to treat arthritic conditions, tendon injuries, and cartilage loss or damage. He believes in treating the whole person and likes to think outside the box when developing treatment plans by working closely with physical therapists, coaches, personal trainers, team physicians, chiropractors, primary care providers and other alternative therapy specialists in order to achieve the best outcome for each individual patient.

Dr. Scott Welsh is a Board Certified and Fellowship Trained Orthopedic Surgeon focusing in minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of knee injuries such as meniscus tears, ACL tears, MCL tears, and cartilage damage. He treats arthritis of the knee using a variety of methods including cortisone injections, hyaluronic acid (gel) injections and other innovative techniques. When conservative treatments have been exhausted, Dr. Welsh may suggest performing total joint replacement surgery to maximize patient outcomes.
